During the
summer Ylläs is a great place for hiking, trekking, mountain biking,
fishing, canoeing, river rafting, orienteering and traditional berry
and mushroom picking. The skiing trails form to nature trails during
the summer, offering tremendous outdoor sport facilities. Many of the
activities can be enjoyed in the Pallas-Ylläs National Park, where the
varying fell-nature is open for everybody.

SCENIC CANOEING TRIP
This relaxing canoeing trip starts by a minibus ride to the lake
shore. Guide teaches you the basics of canoeing and then we start our
trip through the arctic lake view. Paddling through the beautiful
Lappish scenery in calm and enjoyable speed. This canoeing trip is
great fun for all folks, for the young and elder, beginners as well as
experienced paddlers. Fresh coffee is made by open fire during the
snack-break.

NATURE PATH IN
VARKAANKURU GORGE
We start our outing with a minibus ride to the starting point of the
nature path on Yllästunturi. The nature path is 3,5 kilometres long
and a log path makes it easy to walk. During this trip you receive lot
of information about the characteristic nature of Western Lapland,
which is clearly visible along the way: marshland, swamp, small river,
lush grove. When reaching a lean-to shelter guide prepares coffee by
open fire. Possibility to visit the Nature Centre Kellokas after the
walk along the nature path. Duration 3 – 4 hours

INTRODUCTION TO NORDIC WALKING
We start the trip by
choosing the right length for the Nordic walking poles. Guide teaches
you the basic techniques of Nordic walking. With assistance of a
professional Nordic walking guide you learn this new, more affective
way of walking and at the same time you can enjoy the beautiful

TASTES OF
SUMMER NIGHT
Sun should be already setting when we start our evening journey
through beautiful Lappish scenery. Gladly here in Lapland sun does
not go down during the summer months and we can enjoy the
magnificent fell scenery in sun light, even in the middle of the
night. Our destination is a lean –to shelter with an open fire for
enjoying the tastes of the summer night. After a real outdoor
barbecue we raise a toast to Midnight Sun in a luminous Lappish
summer night!.

YEAR OF REINDEER
Visiting the local reindeer farm by minibus. Reindeer herder
welcomes us and takes us on a tour around his farm. We will learn
a lot about the traditional reindeer herding culture while
watching a slide show “Year of the Reindeer”. Reindeer herder has
fenced in for closer inspection a small herd of his reindeer, a
great opportunity to take a photo of reindeer. Last but not least
everybody has a chance to practice the suopunki = Lappish lasso
throwing skills on a set of non-moving antlers. Coffee served in a
Lappish Hut. Duration 3 – 4 hours

SPEED OF THE RAPIDS AND YEAR OF REINDEER
Professional river rafting guides wait for us on the shore of
River Muonio where we travel by minibus. The river rafting guides
are ready to give us instructions for paddling techniques. We
shoot the rapids about 6km, the rapids of Äijäkoski are worth of
yell or two! Afterwards enjoying coffee by open fire. After this
exciting experience we visit a local reindeer farm where the
reindeer herder himself welcomes us to his farm. Soup lunch is
served at Lappish Hut. When stomachs are full, we watch slide show
“Year of reindeer”. Reindeer herder has fenced in for closer
inspection a small herd of his reindeer, a great opportunity to
take a photo of reindeer. Last but not least everybody has a
chance to practice the suopunki = Lappish lasso throwing skills on
